Haddad Maia gets back into the WTA Groove with her biggest title yet, and first since 2017. Danilina also is a phenomenal doubles player, and hopefully, this will jump-start her to a great career. However, they just escaped with a win as they were leading 9-2 in the tiebreak and only won 10-8.

Thoughts on the match?

that was completely unexpected to say the least :lol2:
congrats Bia (and Danilina) !

Udvardy in a WTA 500 final on hardcourt ...granted it was in doubles , really is a shock - good for her and Heisen as well.

Danilina's schedule is crazy! :rolls: She's on the entry-list for a 25K in Brazil the week after next having just played 25K events in Mumbai and Monastir.

I'm pretty sure Danilina will continue with Bia in the AO next week as well! Bia said in her acceptance speech that she and Podoroska were supposed to play in Sydney and the AO, but a few days before she texted Danilina and she dropped everything and flew to Australia to play.

I never saw Danilina plays and from their first match I thought she was really good.
I hope it wasn't just a one time thing, keep going, girl!
As for Bia, one of the most hard workers on tour, she and her family deserved it!
She dedicated the trophy to the victims of a heavy rain in the past days in part of Brazil. Such a sweetheart :inlove:
Hopefully her first WTA title on singles is not far away.
As for the match, I almost died in the MTB, but as a Brazilian, my body is ready for all the emotions

Yes she is fabulous, very good doubles specialist. Bia would also be extremely good at doubles, I think she needs to play more. And yes very sweet that she dedicated the the trophy to the storm victims in her country.

Does anyone think they have a shot to make a run at the AO? :cheer:

Well it depends if they even play! I would hope they would receive a wildcard after this week's display.

What an absolute random final this was. :spitrofl: :tears: Both teams thoroughly deserved it obviously but I expected each team to lose every match they contested here. :rolls:
Crazy to think Danilina was still competing in Monastir and spontaneously decides to fly down. Another pairing where I wonder how this came about. Particularly with the background story that Haddad texted Danilina to ask her to team up which suggests that they are fairly close.
Great run and title for them!!

Fantastic stuff from Vivian and Panna as well! It is good for Panna to get some experience on the tour even though it came in Doubles and Vivian is inching closer to become one of the tour regulars! She could certainly win a title especially a 250 at some point this year.
