Granville/Kostanic Tosic advanced to semi-final by walkover

Berlin (pps) After China’s Jie Zheng pulled out of the doubles due to injury Laura Granville (USA)/Jelena Kostanic Tosic (CRO) already advanced to the semi-finals of the Qatar Telecom German Open in Berlin by walkover. On Thursday Granville/Kostanic Tosic ousted Germany’s Julia Goerges/Vanessa Henke. Jie Zheng, third-seeded in the doubles together with compatriote Zi Yan, suffered a sprained ankle of the left foot.

I don't think Jie is really injured
I think the Chinese are fed up with the rain in Berlin and decided to forfait this so they can go to Rome ... Yan has a chance to play qualifying singles there

I doubt that. There is no way Zi will get into quali at Rome, she would need like 30 withdrawals :help:

I am just telling you what I think ... Jie was fine in Berlin during her match against Camerin and also was walking around fine the next day ...

so unless she suddenly sprained it in practice
