we are so close to each other but miles away in tennis standards. why do you think this happens, we have the right climate for the clay courts but we never produce any good players. let me know what you think.

Well Vasco the Spanish tennis IMO had a before and an after when Barcelona was the chosen city to host the 1992 olympic games, since then things in tennis and other sports were taken more seriously so we didn't suck as much as we usually did in the Olympics, more money was inverted in courts and specially grants to atlethes so they could do sport full time....
Before that Spanish success were countable with the fingers in one hand.
Another factor was the coincidence of really talented guys and girls as Bruguera, ASV, Conchita and the later generations are taking advantage of that way opened by the first.
Do I explain properly????
IMO as soon as Portugal invest more results will come ;)
