Enjoyed the match, Sloan was pretty bad but Sofia did play well. I noticed she was more concentrated throughout the match, always yelling come on, compared to the past. She made same silly errors at times but quickly recovered.

Sofia's match against Elena is tomorrow, on stadium 2 (NB 3.00pm ) Local time.

Around 7.00 am in Perth, that's fine.
Hope it's a good match, don't like two faves playing this early, at least one will get a win. :p

She played a very good set, maybe a little unlucky not to win it.
A lesser player than Elena, she would have won it.

I really find it hard to watch two of my most favourite players play.
So damn hard.
I think Sofia really needed to win the TB, but it's the WTA, so anything can happen.

What a heartbreaker, loses TWO TB sets.
You could almost say that the better player lost in the match, it was that tight.
That will hurt, cause she played a very good level against the current A.O. runner up.

Sofia.....  Seeing her walk off the court like that hurts the soul. :(

What can be really said? She played her ass off in this match, and you can really tell she wanted this, but Rybakina served just well enough in this match to pull the rug from under Sofia. It didn't help that Sofia gave big leads to Elena in both tiebreakers, and you can't allow a big server to have that much breathing room. Yeah Sofia got herself back into the tiebreaks, but too little too late.

If only she could have had a do over in that service game at 4-2 in the second set back.... :cautious:

Overall, I choose to see this tournament as a positive for her. We'll have to see what Miami looks like, but if it looks like there is more positive steps taken by Sofia, then please keep Michael Joyce around. 🙏 Her heart had a lot of fire in it this tournament, and her tennis looked a lot like an older version of Sofia. It was enjoyable to see her play like this again!

She put up a great fight... I think anyone will be nervous to draw Sonya this spring/summer season.
Yes, if she's able to keep this up.

She's still having issues with tiebreakers though. Yeah, the nature of the tiebreaker can be topsy-turvy, but she use to play them so much better.

But overall, this tournament was very encouraging... even with the loss.

Lot's of positives from the match which right at the minute she probably isn't thinking about.
Elena is one of the form players of 2023, going toe to toe was a great sign.
Had she had a different #seed like Trevisan, Bouzkova etc, her form today would have been enough to win.
