If you believe it:rolleyes:
What's new???? She always dominates in January-February! it has been like that for 6 straight years! Let's wait the next couple of months.... we'll see if she can keep it up!!

Good for Her anyways!
the best player at the world makes a break
and her name is

LINDSAY DAVENPORT

GO LINDSAY GO LINDSAY
LINDSAY FOREVER
LINDSAY FOR PRESIDENT
JUST DONT TELL ME ITS VENUS!!!!! and I will be fine.....
:confused: Huh? I don't get it.. .guess I'm uninformed, but where are all Lindsay's points? She's still in the top 10. Is this just for Oz?
This is the 2002 ranking.
Oh well I don't put much stock in it. Serena & Lindsay aren't even listed! :rolleyes:
well, any list that has Silvia Farina ranked #7, when the current tour rankings have her 14th, I think, right in front of Tauziat, who is, ahem, retired, is probably not a list that will stand up to the test of time...
This list will be drastically different by the F.O. in fact, it might be drastically different in about 2 weeks time, since hingis is taking 3 weeks off, and serena and venus both are playing in the next few weeks.

having said that, Hingis has had quite a 2002 so far, and has started out very strong. Capriati, too, has started out strong. both should be congratulated. it will remain to be seen how things fall out in 2002.

Didn't we already cover that the best player on tour has little to do with the rankings? The rankings are about consistency, not quality. If you want to know who is the best just go back and add up the win loss ratio between players, factor in grand slams, and tournament wins. Then you have your best player of 2001.

So far I would have to say Martina is second best, simply because she did not win the AO, sorry smartina fans but Jen waxed dat *ss.
and look at that Monica above Clijsters,Henin,Dokic,Mauresmo who would have thought that!:rolleyes:
Jen is not better than Martina right now, four match points is luck. No, it's Lluck, with two l's.

Anyway, Martina has the best wins:loss ratio so far, and the most tournament wins, so there go those two arguements.

9=Anna Kournikova 308
:)
I disagree. That was not luck. She was outplayed. If she was better she would have won. Yes she has a better ratio, but she is still number two.
1=MARTINA HINGIS 1340 POINTS 2=Jennifer Capriati 1009
And martina's played more than jen ... 4 match points is ballsy, not luck
I am really sick of all the discussions that this player is better than this one, my favourite is better than your favourite.

Why is it so important to get other people's recognition of your favourite merits?

I have my favourites, and my idea about that, I couldn't care less what other people think about them, that won't change what I think or feel.

If you are a Venus fan and you think Venus is the greatest ever, fine, that's your opinion, if I think that Justine Henin is better than Venus, that's MY opinion, and if you don't like it, well...

Why do people need to convince others or have others saying that their favourite is the best? I don't get it. I know my favourites, I enjoy their game and that's it. I don't need other people saying all the time that Justine is wonderful to convince myself I am right, I think that's insecurity.

Same as those comparissons all the time, Venus-Serena, Justine-Kim, Steffi-Monica, blah blah. The worse is that in those discussions, some fans can't accept somebody disagreeing and they always get nasty :mad:

Martina is probably playing better Tennis then anyone at this moment, but the best player in the World is Jenny and will remain so until she is replaced at number 1.
some Hingis fans really make me laugh. Winning 2 who care's titles hardly equals a slam.
If the Australian Open final was a fight Jen would have won on a tko mid way through the 3rd. Hingis herself didn't even want to go back on the court for the 3rd set.
I really don't think downgrading the worth of 2 tournaments in a manner to add some credibility to your argument is really warranted. nor does it work.
