I think she should. She's trying to juggle two totally different things both of which I wish she were talented in. She should give up on either of them and concentrate on the other. I'm not saying she can't handle two separate careers but simply she's won't be able to get too far with that half assed attitude and dedication. I don't mind her quitting tennis entirely and totally focusing on acting. She has the right to choose what she wants and honestly she may do even better in acting then in playing tennis. I dunno which career she prefers and she's already a celebrity and had enough money to live on for the rest of her life.
Of course I will miss her if she stops playing but I will respect her choice whether it's tennis or acting.

Tennis is entertainment, a lot of people seem to forget that. Even if for a player having a second career would mean less good results, so what? There are other way to be accomplished other than hitting a small yellow ball better than other people.

What we need to keep in mind is what Serena wants? Does want to be a serious actress or box-office movie star.

Not everyone in the business goes for Oscars. Even the most talented actors haven't won one. We can't just assume that's what she wants. And not everyone who wants one, gets one.

I don't see why she can't do both. IMO, with the limited schedules she plays anyway, she can do both. However, if she wants to star lead in big movies, yeah she'll need more commitment then this.

But remember she could retire at 30 and go into movies. Most actors don't hit their peak until well after their 30's.

its i think a matter of opinion, but i don't see why someone would disagree with serena deciding do acting as well. hobbies end, and tennis for serena is a hobbi. you only do tennis for so long, and then you need somthing else to do. i always wonder what like Chris Evert, Johnnie Mac etc be doin besides commentating. they have to have so much free time. when you look at the average person, they have a job and kids, and living a life. professionals, they are in the sport, when they retire, they have so much money. with tennis you are over at around 30. 30 most people are starting familes, have jobs to take care of them. living a life. serena said she is the type that doesn't like to do just one thing. if she is doing just one specific thing, she would get bored easily and quit. so if she were an actrees, im sure she would be playing tennis. and she is a tennis player, im sure she would be doing somthing else, and that happens to be acting.

Shouldn't Serena be allowed to do whatever she wants. She has always played part time and of the active players besides Seles she has been the most successful so far. I am sure if other interests affectd her game she would adjust. Nobody loves to win more than Serena, she seems to be with incredible intensity everytime.
Secondly we don't know what the others do in their spare time. They probably are working on other careers which they have not made public. Nobody trains 24/7.
Justine has become successful and still managed to write a book in that time.
