i like that list but think that martina should have made the top 5 in backhand. the backhand dtl was a great shot and fully demonstrated her ability in changing the direction of the ball. and the angles she could hit with her forehand, she could hit it twice as well on the backhand.

she should also be bumped up at least one spot in the overhead. her overhead was rarely spectacular, but many times seemed to be purposely placed just out of reach of the opponent, which must be infuriating for them

coupled with the fact that she's only missed the overhead twice ever, she should be one of the top 2.

Lindsay has great hands, and is just starting to incorperate that part of her game in singles. I've also seen her hit dropshots off of out balls that were quite exquisite, but for some reason(she has punishing groundies) she doesn't do this often in a match.

I agree and have edited my list, how could I forget her, she's the reason I worked an entire summer perfecting a dtl backahnd.

I still don't understand why martina started to hit that shot less and less later in her career. it was her biggest weapon.
Increasingly, it went into a youngster's two-handed backhand passing shot. Martina's leftiness started to work against her with that shot.

I knew you'd not only appreciate a thread like this, but also put on your "old school jams" and pull out some blast from the past.

Some pretty good lists....Serena´s serve sure has to be one of the best shots ever. Right up there with Steffi´s forehand.
