Shinobu's been my favourite asian tennis player ever since kimiko and naoko left the scene. i mean, she seems a lot more committed to appearing at asian tourny's than sugiyama, so, i like the way she (in a way), plays a part in promoting the sport in the region

I hope Shinobu beats Mary AND Anastacia. That'll really make this year's Open really special for her

Actually, 4th. Not that it makes a real difference.

The seedings should be:
1) Ai Sugiyama
2) Tamarine Tanasugarn
3) Katarina Srebotnik
4) Shinobu Asagoe

I believe Tanasugarn's playing in Moscow, so the no.3 seeding should go to Shinobu.

Shinobu will play only 2 more events this season: Tokyo & Pattaya.

I really hope she does well and finishes the year where she currently is...

I still don't understand why Shinobu didn't participate in Shanghai when she had a great chance to do well there.

Personally, I think it would've been a better idea for Shinobu to play in Bali, Shanghai, Tokyo and Pattaya to boost up her rankings. If she did well in those four tournaments, we would've seen two Japanese in the top twenty for the first time since 1995

Tammy withdrew from Moscow & Filderstadt and will play Tokyo instead.

I feel embarassed now It's just like me to say things without thinking things through. I just read another post which said that Tammy would rather play in Japan in the main draw rather than qualify in Moscow. I like Tammy a lot, but I'm dissapointed that Shinobu didn't get the no.3 seeding and that Sarah Taylor and others who are at the bottom of the main draw would probably have to qualify because of Tammy's late entrance
