When I was getting my coaching certification at Van Der Meer's, I got to meet and work with Shadisha. (Because we're both from NY.) She is truly a sweet kid. I worked her like a dog, and she took it all in stride. The following week, and a tennis festival in Savannah, who is the guest pro? Shadisha. They were having people come out and hit with her, and next thing I know, she and I were playing doubles against another pro, and the best doubles player in Savannah. Now, she's making ME go for all the shots, and working ME like a dog, to get even.

She did it jokingly, and afterwards, we laughed about it. Interestingly, during the match, she told me she was no longer going to hit the the doubles player I mentioned above, because, and I quote: "That guy is just TOO good."

We lost the set, 6-4, and it was all my fault, but it was a joy to be on the court with her. She has shuch a great additude, a fabulous game, and I hope she goes far.

Baseline game that tends to go all-court. She has a deft touch on the ball, but can bang away with the best of them. Her serve is fabulous, but she needs to develop a little more power on it, mainly because she's young and her muscles haven't fully matured.

As to her being pretty, well, I can't really look at her that way. I have a hard time thinking of attraction to any girl that's 4 years younger than my daughter, but she does have pretty eyes.

shadisha and i are good friends, we went to an academy together the past year. she is a cool girl, with a lot of potential. she got a WC into the qualies of the Family Circle Cup in Charleston in April. we went to watch and support her. she won both her qualies matches against wheeler and dominikovic (both australian and both ranked in the top 150 at the time) it was a great achievement, we really carried her through both tight 3 set matches. unfortunately she lost in the 1st round main draw against mikaelian.

anyway, she plays tomorrow on court 7, 3rd match on against amandine dulon from france. i believe she has a good draw and can qualify..
