Just a little tidbit:

If Serena wins the final against Radwanska, her W/L since coming back will be 56-6. Her record during 2002 was 56-5.

In the past year (with the Wimbledon win), she will be 52-4. That's 12 more wins than Venus had in one of her GOAT years, 2000.

Not comparing 2002 to her 2011/2012 season, but just showing how she really hasn't done as poorly as everyone seems to believe.

4R-F-4R-1R at slams is disappointing, especially for someone her caliber. Her tour results have been fantastic, though. Hopefully she can win Olympics and US Open too.

 I haven't seen anyone stating that Williams was doing poorly or even close to that. Sure her R1 loss at RG shocked most but beyond that ??

She just has had some weird losses at the majors. That's all. Hopefully she can cement the good run with a win tomorrow. :bounce:

She's not done badly at all,it's just the few losses she has had, like to Stosur,Makarova, and Razzano were all shocking to most people and came in grand slams.
This.

Since coming back, she's:
Won 9 straight matches vs. Top 5 Opponents all in straight sets (Sharapova x2, Azarenka x4, Wozniacki, Stosur x2) *going for #10 tomorrow*
Won 2 Tier I titles (Toronto, Madrid)
Been to 2 Major Finals

Not too bad.

Big difference though: Serena was losing in tour events in 2002. This year, she is losing at the majors and winning everything else. If she can get that first slam under her belt, I think she is going to loosen up and we could be in store for something truly special.

Awesome stats for her. I wish we could start RG all over again.

considering her fans always put slams above everything, that is tad silly. :p
No, they ALL don't.

It is a shame and a bit surprising that she hasn't translated that level of play and success to the slams. However, hopefully all should go well tomorrow and the Olympics are coming.

Multiple Grand Slam finals in her ranking, and some excellent tournament wins. Her fans and the tennis world should be rejoicing at how successful this legendary player is at 30 years old. She is one of the biggest assets women's tennis has ever had.

Some people are just never satisfied. Maria had not 2 but 3 GS Finals and a Win on her rank coming into Wimbledon yet she had haters laughing at her left and right......I partially believe the reason Serena'a record is understated is because she is THE go to player in the Majors yet has failed miserably in the last 5 so no one really notices the outstanding 52-6 W/L record.

With 13 GS's, for Serena, at this stage of her career, its all about winning slams. And she has won none yet since her comeback. Hopefully that will change tomorrow. It doesn't matter how many Charleston or Madrid titles she has won.
