An interesting fact!

I'm not sure if you're asking if another player has done that to win a tournament or if someone beat 6 such players in a row.

Serena beat Martinez, Seles, Davenport and Hingis to win the USO 1999 and then followed it up beating Sanchez-Vicario, Davenport and Venus to win the Grand Slam Cup. That's 7 in a row.

and if you don't include Venus as she hadn't won a slam yet, then that's 6 slam champions in a row! :worship:

SERENA'S THE FIRST SINCE 1990 TO DO THIS

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL, USA - Yesterday, though she had already clinched it at the US Open, Serena Williams officially got her hands on the WTA Year-End World No.1 Singles Ranking presented by Dubai Duty Free. It was her third year-end No.1 finish in a row, and the fifth in her illustrious career.

But by achieving that feat, she's unlocked another feat that hasn't been done in 25 years.

Serena is the first player since 1990 to hold No.1 from start to finish two years in a row.

Recent Records

Serena (755 wins) recently passed Davenport (753) for total matches won. She is now 6# for most match wins. She is 4 matches away from tying with Aranxta Sanchez at 759.

Serena (469 wins) recently passed Davenport (464) for total matches won on hardcourt. She is now 1# for most hardcourt wins :worship:

With Serena winning Rome, she now ties Sabatini and Martinez with 4 Rome titles. Only Evert (5) has more. Serena also now has 7 clay PM/P5 titles, with only Graf and Martinez (both 8) having more.

P.S Davenport is such a hardcourt Queen!

BTW Sir Stefwhit

For your "Serena Williams stands alone as the only player in the history of the sport to:" Section, I think you should include the fact that Serena has won 3 slams while saving MPs somewhere throughout the tournament, which is a record. Serena is also the 3rd unseeded player to win the AO (after Goolagong and O'Neil)

Something positive after the QF match :hysteric:

Serena with her 5 wins at Roland Garros has passed Aranxta Sanchez. She now has 760 wins, 5# on the all time list.

Also, she has now extended her best SF (or better) streak at majors:

Previous Record was 6 (2002 FO - 2003 W)
Now it's 7* (2014 USO - Current)

ALSO: According to ESPN Stats & Information, it was the 36th time -- the most since 1968 -- that Williams dropped the first set of a match in a Grand Slam event only to rally and win. Chris Event is second on that list with 28 victories after losing the first set and then winning a match.
