I thought it would be interesting to see, whom(?) Serena had the most trouble with druring her 23 (Grand) Slam wins. You can decide for youself whether you find it interesting. The women should be very proud of their efforts :)

As I did not watch all of her trillion matches during her carreer, I had to make up my mind on how to decide what makes a match the hardest. I chose "games won by her opponent". I used wikipedia and my brain to calculate it, knowing my abilities in calculating, there is the possibility of mistakes. If so, feel free to correct me and denounce me with shameless gifs.

Here is the list:

USO 2014 :hearts:

She didn't drop a single set nor did she lose more than 3 games in any set.
That was big time. I'm glad the op included the 2012 OG. To me the greatest performance ever. The way she smoked three former #1's and the current #1 was nothing short of brilliant. She also beat a former #2. Ironically the person who won the most games has never been above #29. Losing an average of two games per match the last four rounds. Maybe the most under appreciated performance on a major stage ever.

Thanks OP for your work - very interesting post

It aways amazes me how Ula did better against OlympicRena than Masha, Woz or PEAK Azarenka did.

1. Venus Williams
2. Maria Sharapova (2005 Oz)
3. Victoria Azarenka (not only @ USO)
4. Elena Dementieva
5. Svetlana Kuznetsova

Kerber could be on that list with her Wimbledon final performance...

Zheng and Dementieva at Wimbledon. What a fight!

Also Clijsters had her on ropes at AO one year should have finished it off

Soft-ass draw though...

Serena's USO '02 is pretty much as dominant as it gets. She was simply unplayable that fortnight.
Yeah that '02 US Open was memorable. All eyes might've been on that catsuit, but she kicked ass, and looked good doing it! HOWEVER, the only thing that beats out the '02 US Open, was the London 2012 OG. That was PEAKrena x100!!! That serve was so GOAT, it brought tears to my eyes! She could do no wrong. Everything she did was flawless! And to cap it off, she beat the brakes off Miss Sugarpova :worship:

It should be looked at a different way, because you can lose many many games but never facing real crisis (like 03 AO F)

2009 Australian Open
QF - down 5-7 3*-5 and 3 points from losing against Kuznetsova

3R - had to serve to stay in the match 3 times against Zheng

2012 US Open

Yeah I remember that match. Kim was up 5-1 or 5-2 in the 3rd, before WarrioRena morphed into comeback mode and we all know what happened from there...........

Yeah. Kim was up 5-2 with 2 MPs against her at the 2003 AO and was up 5-3, 2 points away from the match at the 1999 USO :sobbing:

She could have prevented Serena's first Slam and the Serena Slam :sobbing:

Incredible to think that Shahar Peer use to trouble top players

I mean she's not exactly old now, must be one of the biggest declines in womens tennis.

The way peer fell off the tour, no injuries.
