MUNICH, Germany (AP) -- Winning her biggest
event in two years left Serena Williams wanting
more. A day after clinching the top ranking, Lindsay Davenport pulled out of the Sanex Championships final with a bruised right
knee Sunday, giving the title to Williams.

Overshadowed by Davenport's battle with Jennifer Capriati for the No. 1 ranking, Williams, the winner of the 1999 U.S. Open, wants to challenge for the top ranking.

``I'm tired of people being ahead of me that don't deserve it,'' said Williams, who finished the season ranked seventh. ``I'm on a mission to be No. 1.''
