I pray that whenever Serena and Venus decide to end their singles careers, that they give us a Doubles Farewell Tour so they can enjoy tennis for their last year on tour. My pipe dream is that Serena plays Wimbledon and USO 2022, finishes her Singles career at USO 2023, and then VeRena play the entirety of 2024 including the Olympics and YEC.

Doubles is less taxing on the body and I think they can pull off a nice farewell tour together. Would be so fitting!

So do we want Serena to go all the way with Ons? I feel like a title (even in doubles) would go a long way in boosting her confidence and taking some of the pressure off of her.

I’m also hoping she plays doubles with Andy again. Having more time on the court in a more low-stakes draw always does wonders for her Singles. Mixed Doubles is a lot less demanding than Doubles so that would be the best move in my book. I’m just praying she stays healthy above all else.

Murray is dealing with an injury and is in doubt to even play the tournament. I doubt he'll play anything other than Men's Singles.

Serena and Venus really should play doubles after singles retirement if their bodies will allow it :sobbing:. I always felt like they could catch Nav and Shriver's #20. Maybe not now but if it was their only focus maybe.

Kygrios would probably partner with Serena but I think someone else asked him? I hope she is aware enough to steer clear of the MAGA Americans. Not sure how realistic it would be for her to try both singles and doubles. Although she and Cressy would be hilarious to watch. They could maybe serbot their way to the title!

Kyrgios is doing Men's Doubles with Kokkinakis. No way he does 3 events and he's a flake. Plus, he made some questionable comments about his experience playing doubles with Serena during IPTL in 2015(?)

ETA: Kyrgios originally wasn't going to do Men's Doubles, but he decided to after Osaka withdrew. He didn't want to do it at Wimbledon because it's bo5. Osaka had teased a mystery MXD partner and Kyrgios was just revealed to join her bullshit sports agency this week.

Speaking about the match on his No Boundaries Podcast, Kyrgios said: “I’ve hit with Serena before. I played mixed doubles with her at the IPTL and it was the most uncomfortable experience for me because she was trying to do everything. And I was like ‘I’m better than you’.

“There are some sports where the levels [between men and women] are quite similar…but deep down I was like ‘Serena you have to get me involved here, we’re getting snipped, give me the ball!’”
IMHO, if Serena wins this doubles title, she should just focus on singles at Wimbledon. She just needs to remember that she can produce in clutch situations again as she has so far this week.

ETA: It could have been some nice teams in the draw. Gauff revealed she is playing with Sock and Sock as a partner immediately means you can win the title.

I thought the suspect thing Kyrgios recently said was about her time being over (pharaphrasing) when talking about her and the big 3 a bit? I can't recall what he said after IPTL. He is messy so I am not surprised. But he was full of praise for Venus and he can play doubles. But you're right he wouldn't play 3 events and he is unreliable. If she wanted to win the mixed title she would probably need a dedicated doubles specialist like Sock.
