I watched her play a bit on the stream of the Cat. 1 U14 tournament in Khimki last week, and I was pretty impressed: she has big groundies, actually she bagelled 2nd seed Maria Timofeeva in QF - eventually Masha was too solid for her and she won 0-6 6-2 6-2, but she went on to win the tournament and Selin wass the only one to take a set off her in the end!

She's 13 (born Aug 15, 2003), and I was suprised to find out she's apparently training in France, and also it looks like she's fluent in Russian. :bolt:  :inlove: So I wonder whether her mother is Russian or something?

Anyways, hope she has a great year, and looking forward to seeing how she does in the strong U14 tournaments as well as in U18 category! She's only played 1 G18 so far; last year she won 2 singles titles (G14 GD Tennis Cup, beating Alia Lex 3 & 4 in the final and G16 GD Tennis Cup, beating Eleni Louka in the final) out of the 3 finals she made, lost 3 & 2 to Salma Djoubri in R1 of the U14 Slam Les Petits As (no shame losing to Salma who's pretty good and also older). Hopefully now she's older she wins some matches at Les Petits As, gooo! :armed: :cheer:

So Selin is playing U14 Slam Les Petits As this week: she's the 14th seed, routined qualifier Amelie-Christin Janssen 4 & 3 in R1 today  :yeah:

She'll face WC Camille Berbelka, who routined Anastasiya Abramovich in R1, in R2 - please avenge my girl! :awww: :armed: :cheer:

Hopefully the DREAM R3 match vs. top seed Selekhmeteva will happen :hearts:

Selin was part of the U14 Turkish Team (along with Melis Ayda Uyar & Ozlem Uslu) for the Winter Cup qualies last week-end in Antalya, and she led her team through a qualification from the finals: they beat Sweden 2-1 in R1 (Melis lt. Klara Milicevic, 3 & 4; Selin d. Louise Wikander, 1 & 2; Selin & Melis d. Lovqvist/Milicevic, 4 & 2) and then they beat Belarus 2-0 in SF (Ozlem d. Anastasiya Abramovich, 4 & 3; Selin d. Jana Kolodynska, 1 & 4; dubs was not played), before falling 1-2 to Ukraine in the final (Ozlem lt. Dasha Lopatetskaya, 3 & 1; Selin d. Lyubov Kostenko, 3 & 1; Selin & Melis lt. Kostenko/Lopatetskaya, 2 & 4) - however reaching the final of their group was enough to qualify for the final stage! :D

Good job Selin - thrashing Wilander, Kolodynska & Kostenko ain't bad!  :yeah: Unfortunately Ukraine had a strong team, Lopatetskaya (who reached the final of Les Petits As a week ago) and Kostenko are 2 solid players and Selin's partner are nowhere as good as her so I'm not too surprised they fell to Ukraine ;)

Finals were played las week-end in Rakovnik, and sadly it didn't go too well for Team Turkey - they ranked last of the final group. :hysteric: :crying2:

They lost 0-3 to 3rd seeds Great Britain in R1 (Ozlem lt. Amelia Bissett, 5-7 6-4 0-6; Selin lt. Kylie Bilchev, 3-6 7-6(6) 5-7 :sobbing:; Ozlem & Melis lt. Bissett/Pineda, 2-6 6-4 [8-10] :tears:), then lost 0-3 to Czech Republic in the first tie of the 5-8th place play-offs (Melis lt. Linda Fruhvirtova, 2 & 2; Selin lt. Darja Vidmanova, 6-2 1-6 2-6; Ozlem & Melis lt. Fruhvirtova/Mandelikova, 1 & 4), and finally they lost the tie to avoid the last place, 1-2 to Hungary (Melis d. Anna Kantor, 1 & 2; Selin lt. Natalia Szabanin, 3-6 6-7(5); Selin & Melis lt. Szabanin/Toth, 5-7 ret. :hysteric:). :sobbing:

Bit of a nightmare week-end... Disappoiting showing from Selin, shouldn't have lost to Bilchev, Vidmanova & Szabanin (especially the latter!), and the fact they retired after dropping the first set of the deciding dubs against Hungary makes me wonder whether she was ok physically? :(:hug::hug:

Selin is playing Cat. 1 G14 TIM Essonne in France this week (her first tourney since Les Petits As!), she's the 3rd seed there. :bounce:

She had a bye in R1, and she beat Lucie Nguyen Tan 0-6 7-6(2) 6-2 in R2 today :scared: :SNE: :yeah: (wonder whether she saved MPs... :tears:)

R3 vs. Dutch 13th seed Clarine Lerby tomorrow, come on! :armed: :cheer:

Also, she's playing dubs with Polina Kudermetova! :inlove: They're the top seeds, had a bye in R1 and will play their R2 match against French pair Galmiche/Radovanovic tomorrow :cheer::cheer:

Selin lost 6-7(8) 6-7(1) to Anaëlle :hysteric: :( - in the first set TB, she saved 3 SPs to set up a SP of her own (going from *3-6 to *7-6 up) but still managed to let the set slip away from her... :smash: :eek:h: Not sure what happened in the 2nd set, I didn't follow the livescore. :[

Must have felt frustrating to lose liek this :sobbing:

Fortunately, she took her revenge afterwards in doubles with Polinka, they won 6-4 6-7(1) [10-1] in SF! :D :yeah:

They'll face 2nd seeds Bondarenko/Zhabrailova (who won the Cat. 1 G14 in Stockholm last week) in a DREAM final tomorrow :hearts:

I don't think so, seems like I'm the only one interested in her atm (with you maybe now :awww:) :sobbing:

She's still only 13 though, so not really surprising. Hopefully she fulfills her potential and the fans should come in droves :cheer:

I can see why you like/interested in her after reading first post carefully :p But yh,seeing that clip, she has nice strong groundstrokes and yet isn't brainless. (i might become real fan after seeing more of her matches ) :) Maybe putting some more weight/muscles would make her even better for future though ;) Interesting/promising turkish girls emerging every 2,3 yrs these days, seems they are investing more in tennis. :yeah:

Selin won a Cat. 3 G16 in Istanbul a little over a month ago. She was the 5th seed there, beat Russian 2nd seed Anna Grigoreva 6-3 6-7(3) 6-2 in QF, 3rd seed Ozlem Uslu 4 & 3 in SF, and 9th seed Melissa Yakup Pour (who upset top seed Arli in SF) 0 & 1 in the final  :yeah:

This is her first singles title this year! :)

She also played her very first G18s in May. Both were G4s in Istanbul: she lost 3 & 4 to 3rd seed Helena Jansen Figueras (17 yo , CHR 290) in R1 of the first one; and at the 2nd one she beat 11th seed Lana Kentchiashvili (17 yo , CHR 532) 3 & 2 in R1 and double-bagelled Begum Gumussoy in R2, before retiring down 5-7 against 6th seed Zeynep Sonmez (1 year older than her, currently Top 300) in R3.
