DOHA, QATAR (TICKER) -- Seeking her first career title, fourth-seeded Tamarine Tanasugarn of Thailand will face top seed Monica Seles of the United States in the final of the $170,000 Qatar Open hardcourt tennis event.

Tanasugarn defeated Slovakia's Janette Husarova, 6-0, 7-6 (7-2), in the semifinals Saturday. The 24-year-old Tanasugarn, who is seeking her first career title, lost to Anna Smashnova in the final at Canberra earlier this year. She has a career high ranking of No. 24 and reached the third round at the Australian Open.

The 27-year-old Husarova, who had her best-ever Grand Slam performance when she reached the fourth round at the Australian Open, upset second-seeded Frenchwoman Sandrine Testud in the second round earlier in the week.

Seles, who last week made it to the semifinals of an indoor event at Paris, got past Australian Alicia Molik, 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, in Saturday's other semifinal.

The 28-year-old Seles, who is seeking her 52nd career title, is playing in this tournament for the first time. She was a semifinalist at the Australian Open last month and runnerup at the Pan Pacific Open two weeks ago.

The winner earns $27,000.
