Sucha was a set and 3-0 down before beating eighth-seeded Australian Nicole Pratt 1-6, 6-4, 6-4, while Medina Garrigues beat seventh-seeded American Amy Frazier 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.

By making Saturday's final, Sucha, 21, and Medina Garrigues, 19, continued the tournament's tradition of launching promising youngsters. Two years ago, it was won by Belgian Kim Clijsters.

Pratt, 28, and Frazier, 29, both lost to more aggressive and adventurous players after being in position to win.

For nearly a set and a half, Pratt playing nearly error-free. But Sucha, a consistent slow starter, gradually found her rhythm and began making big shots and less mistakes.

Garrigues, hitting with great power and accuracy from both sides, overwhelmed Frazier in the first set before the American fought back in the second and led 4-2 in the third.

But the Spaniard regained her form and won the next four games.
