Pisnik/Zec Peskiric def. Chakvetadze/Likhovtseva 6-4,6-1

SLO leads RUS II 2-1

Slovenia played a straight forward match and took out Anna and Elena. The Russians of team II are another team that can't make doubles click.

Virginia Wade [21] def. [50] Jill Craybas 6-4,7-6(6)

FINAL RESULT
GBR II def. USA II 3-2

Great Britain II moves through to the Semis once again. It was close especially for Craybas, but Virginia was able to hold onto it in the end. Virginia will be moving up in the rankings this coming week.

Maja Matevzic def. [53] Maria Sharapova 6-1,6-1

SLO def. RUS II 3-1

Wow Maja dominated Maria, Maja used her grasscourting abilities amazingly, and Maria didn't stand a chance. Slovenia makes a Semi on their debut.

Emma Murphy [53] def. [25] Romina Oprandi 6-0,7-5

ITA and IRL 2-2

The third Quarter that goes to the final rubber. Emma was the predictable winner, but Romina challenged her in the second set and could've won with just a little bit better play then.

Flavia Pennetta [16] def. [12] Kelly Liggan 0-6,6-0,7-5

FINAL RESULT
ITA def. IRL 3-2

Flavia wins it for Italy really. She went 3-0 in rubbers yesterday and today, the only 3 that went in Italy's favor. Oprandi and Knapp should pick up their play so the pressure comes off Flavia.

Brenda Schultz-McCarthy [25] def. [25] Tamira Paszek 6-7(1),7-6(8)*,6-3

FINAL RESULT
NED def. AUT 3-2

Both the Netherlands and Austria got their share of luck, but NED got more. Tamira was really close to a great upset, but Brenda held on. They'll take on Italy in the Semis.

Nadia Petrova [16] def. Katarina Srebotnik 6-0,0-6,6-4

FINAL RESULT
SLO def. RUS II 3-2

In the ONLY dead rubber of the quarterfinals, Nadia gets Russia some extra rankings points, by defeating Slovenia's weekness Srebotnik. Katarina has proven herself against a grasscourter, but is 1-3 overall.

Maja Matevzic def. [21] Virginia Wade 7-5,7-5

SLO leads GBR 1-0

Maja is just unstoppable on grass, she's played some great grasscourters and won and now a solid victory over Britain's best grasscourter.

Well... I keep getting the same problem where I'll set up a livescore match and try to post it and then I can't post it so... Semis are going to have crappy looking results. sorry, even if it sucks I'll put the time in for the Final.

ITA vs NED

Brenda Schutlz-McCarthy [25] def. [16] Flavia Pennetta 6-2,0-6,6-3
Michaela Krajicek [25] def. [53] Karin Knapp 6-4,0-6,6-0
Tamaela/Thyssen def. Chieppa/Pennetta 7-5,0-6,6-0
Brenda Schultz-McCarthy [25] def. [25] Romina Oprandi 6-2,1-6,6-3
Flavia Pennetta [16] def. [25] Michaella Krajicek 2-6,6-0,7-6(8)*

Almost a whitewash, Flavia gets a good call at the end of the final rubber to save it though. Italy was playing really good, but the Netherlands stuck to wearing them down and they were very very successful in that.

SLO vs GBR II

Maja Matevzic def. [21] Virginia Wade 7-5,7-5
Sue Barker [1] def. Katarina Srebotnik 2-6,6-4,6-4
Pisnik/Zec Peskiric def. Croft/Durie 6-1,6-2
Maja Matevzic def. [1] Sue Barker 6-0,6-0
Virginia Wade [21] def. Katarina Srebotnik 6-0,7-5

Great Britain showed weakness for the first time. Virginia's skills were challenged, the doubles team was demolished and so was #1 Sue Barker. It's SLO def. GBR II 3-2 but the only loses come from Srebotnik who has dissappointed Slovenia so far.

Slovenia wins on grass

Maja Matevzic with Maret Ani, on the party after win.

Maja Matevzic was the hero of the Slovenian Fed cup debut. She didn't even lose a match, she dominated the tour through the whole week."That's awesome.I had no concentration lapses, only played and had awesome results.Especially through the end of the competition, I gave it my all.I know grass suits me very much, because of my mixed-up game, so I was confident. And we I made it."

Katarina Srebotnik, on the other side, was the worst player of the tournament, surprisingly."I'm jealous of Maja. (laugh) But she deserves respect from me.She hasn't lost a match.I lost 6.I was positive at the start of the tournament, my play is one of the best they say.But I just couldn't cope.Next week, I'll carry the flag, as probably the best hard courter besides Masa in the Slovenian team.Probably Masa will get a chance of playing, as Maja has to rest, and Pisnik is injured a bit.I won't play doubles, but I'll get ready for singles that much better. Can't wait."
