Well, the Potapova match thread vs the allegedly "bland and boring" Pegula got 100% more comments than WTA pin-up Gauff vs "people's champ" Noskova match thread so even TF has their priorities :lol2:
This one is probably going to be locked or moved to the "Russia invades Ukraine" thread as well.

Some of the xenophobia in this thread 😮
This will only get progressively worse as long as this war goes on. Until the boiling point is reached.

Is this thread for real? :unsure2: the usual xenophobic posters gathering here..
That's why you're here? :D

But seriously, mock these tensions, ignore these people, and ridicule their arguments - at your own peril.

Lie to yourself that sports and politics should not mix. Pretend nothing happens. Delude yourself that you will live a long, comfy life just because you were born on the right side of the Volga river. You're in for a big surprise! :)

Am I missing something here that the Polish nationalists and the usual unhinged, rabid Russophobes are about to reveal? Is Spartak Moscow - the most supported football club in Russia (also known for its production line of Russian tennis players like Kafelnikov, Safin, Dementieva, Kournikova and even Rybakina) - a Kremlin-run club or something? What else is "stupid" for her to do? Speak Russian? Visit Russia? Wear anything with Cyrillic on it? Patronize a Russian company? Answer a Russian name?
You don't need to be a Polish nationalist to hate Russia. When you live in those parts, all you need is a semi-decent memory.

Your "hating Russia" is irrelevant to what I asked about those foaming in the mouth in this thread in their usual deranged way. Is Spartak Moscow some Kremlin-owned club? Since a Muscovite should apparently be banned for expressing support for a popular private club in Moscow with extensive tennis ties, what other Russian cultural expressions should she be banned for?
Well, Spartak was bought last year by a state-owned company. So I would say yes, it is a state-owned club.

Lukoil actually not state-owned.

But being such an important company in Russia, active in exploiting natural ressources, it cannot work without the regime's involvement.

Last year, the Lukoil chairman Ravil Maganov criticised the Ukraine invasion and then died suspiciously.

It doesn't have to be officially state-owned as long as its owners are owned by Putin. That's why Alekperov was fired. So Putin could use Lukoil to put pressure on the West.

The article is from 03.03.2022. Why won't you say that Putin fired Alekperov after that? Not to mention some other board members falling out of the window?

You really think these tennis players think so complex about everything? She likes the team, has since she was a child, attended their matches for many, many years and just thought it was cool to wear that shirt.

She couldn't have known that some freaks/stalkers care more about her than about anything else and try to create drama. Like someone said, Potapova is a random top 30 player with no big titles, why do people obsess and watch what she is wearing during the entrance to a tennis match? I didn't know about that, and I'm known as one of her biggest supporters.

If Potapova would have been smart enough to anticipate the outcome of hear simply wearing this shirt, she wouldn't have done that. But then, she also wouldn't have lost her 5-0 lead vs Volynets or this match yesterday.
Yeah, Potato is not the sharpest bulb in the box :oh:
