From the goddess herself, she may retire AFTER 2002. I must definitely get to Paris this year to watch her play!

Nicolas, please make room for me and Fernando!

Monster, I'm so sure of it I didn't bother to ask.

With Roberta's ranking in the Top 200 in singles and Top 35 in doubles now I'm sure they will play all the majors together in 2002. I also anticipate they'll play dubs in other events where Roby can also play in qualifying rounds in singles.

COOL THANKS GO SANDRINE

Did they get to know each other via the Italian Tennis Fed-or does Roberta also live in Rome- or via Sadrine's husband? Or ....

Monster, I believe Vittorio once coached the Italian Federation and is currently coaching Roberta so I'm pretty sure that's how they hooked up. Also, Vittorio and Sandrine live in Rome so they're both friendly with many of the Italian players.

With Roby's ranking skyrocketing this past year in both singles and doubles, it should make Vittorio's travel schedule a whole lot easier as Sandrine and Roby should be playing more of the same tournaments together.

As for Rita, I believe Sandrine's brother was a part time coach or hitting partner for Rita but I don't believe he was ever a full time coach.

Cool thanks for that
ONe other q comes to mind- then I promise no more- as we know tauziat returned to the french fed cup team - for this to happen- did sandrine and Amelie fwork out the problems)forgive her) or was it pretty tense last week for the french team at the fed cup?
Its seems sandrine gets along well with most of the other french playesr- sidot, halard, razzano- and played doubels with them. Is this right? Waht about with Fusai, Dechy and Loit.
The way I see it is that Amelie,Amelie C, Dechy, Sidot and Loit all started off together, then some drifted apart, but they seem to get along Ok again now?
How about the Italian players, do they get along?

thanks rated next- i thought the italians had harmony as they stood up to the italian fed together(what wa s that over? I know in the early 90's Cechini and Reggi had issues (and were gonig to not play fed cup in protest) that the men were given so much more than the girls- but now Raffi is the captain so I wouldn't have thought it was that anymore. I thought that Grande, Farina, Tax and Schiavone may have had issues with casoni, Vinci and serra zanetti playing??
What happend to casoni in 2001? She fell right away. I saw her play in the 1st rnd of OZ Open and was appauled at her bad sportmanship, whcuh was ashame as she had a nice game to watch.

Monster, you certianly have an inquiring mind.

I must say I don't know Sandrine on that personal a level as I just met her at this past US Open but she was very gracious and we've exchanged emails several times since.

I can tell you that I read something indicating Guy approached Sandrine and Amelie and they indicated they had no problems if Nathalie were to play on the Fed Cup team. I know Guy asked Sandrine about playing doubles with Nathalie and she said "no problem". I believe the rift between Nathalie and many of the French players started with some derogatory remarks she made in her much publicized book but I suppose time heals all wounds.

I know of no rifts amongst the Italian players except for their disdain for the Italian Federation. I did see a wonderful pic on the Sanex Championship website of Sandrine, Vittorio, Silvia, and Roberta all having a drink together.
