Hewitt survives, advances
Posted: Thursday February 28, 2002 10:19 PM

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -- Top-seeded Lleyton Hewitt fought off four match points and won the final five points of a third-set tiebreaker to beat Paradom Srichaphan 6-7 (2), 6-4, 7-6 (6) at the Siebel Open on Thursday.

Hewitt, the world No. 1, advanced to the quarterfinals with a huge rally past Srichaphan, a 22-year-old from Thailand with no ATP victories

Srichaphan led 5-2 in the third set and had a match point at 5-3, but Hewitt broke Srichaphan's serve twice to force a tiebreaker, then rallied from a 6-3 deficit to win.

"You feel tight when you're up there serving for the match, especially against Hewitt," Srichaphan said. "I tried my best, but he's strong."

Not a surprise to see Greg losing to Todd Martin, he always beats him, still remember that match in the US Open a few years ago
