Great start to the tournament from Amanda. Hitting out at will and really controlling the match.

The only concerning thing was the shoulder tape and the the fact that her serve remains quite breakable...especially for her height.

Onwards and upwards.

Ya’ll...

Brengle’s serve motion. What in the fuck? Like literal club player serve motion. Fix it, someone help her.

Good to see Mandy just going about her business.

Amanda :worship: Very clean performance. :) It is funny how any sort of hype around her has completely died down with Cori's run in Wimbledon, while she performed subpar on grass. But that can only help her to focus on her tennis and take it from there. This was a good start.

Maddy  Will probably never be able to match Amanda's easy power.

Not happy that Amanda was broken 4 times, but happy that she broke Brengle in all her service games. Carry on, Kween.

I feel like the Brengle arm issue has been spoken about ad nauseam... and why she can't serve or put any pace on her FH anymore. Not that she was ever powerful, but the issue explains the non-pace even more.

Anisimova’s stroke-production remains so pure, powerful, and measured for a player of her age. She was all business, for sure—executing with fluidity and fine court sense. She hits a Big Ball, but she definitely isn’t a Basher. She also moves with admirable anticipation and deceptive speed.

Brengle was toast, and it didn’t help that she seemed to be serving in the 70s for almost the entire match. Anisimova was crushing those puffies back at-will, and with plenty of margin.

If she is wise with scheduling and fortunate with her health/fitness ... the point of making lofty predictions about her could be rendered moot in very short order.

Wow, isn't that the same pain syndrome that knocked Coco V. out for so long (different cause, of course). I hope Madison's condition can eventually become manageable, too. :awww:

hope Amanda works a lot in off season on her serve because comparative to her physical she must have one of the worst serve in WTA.
