Such a fun contest played in great spirits with blistering ballstriking from both. Naomi served well and found the winners when it mattered, and she'll feel chuffed to get through this relatively comfortably in the third. I lost track of how many times she smiled, just so nice to see her enjoying herself like this.

Qinwen is, like, 85% of the way there. She'll probably get hot and win something big in the next 12-18 months. It's all there, but for me it's the counter-attacking that's the most impressive. Some of the winners she found from defensive positions were Serena-esque. Naomi was clearly impressed.

Does she tho? Looks very 2021 to me. Last time I rememver her better shaped is in mid 2020.

She's definitely not as fit as she was at the US Open 2020 but to me she looks trimmer now than she did when she won the Australian last year 🤷‍♂️

Her movement looks a bit slower than a couple of years ago too, but that could also be rust/lack of matches.
