Pete Sampras made a phone call last week to tell captain Patrick McEnroe something McEnroe had been hoping to hear: Sampras is interested in playing Davis Cup next year.

The way Sampras is playing these days he is just about worthless.

He is like a racing horse who may have gotten tonnes of 1st's in its career but now it needs to be put out to pasture after running the wrong way in it's last race and bucking it's jockey cause it doesn't fancy the extra weight.

You can substitute "smaller tournaments" in for jockeys in Pete's case!
