MOSCOW

Welcome to Moscow, Russia. Last week saw Kournikova defeating Na Li to take the title in Stuttgart, with both moving into Top 8 Race spots. Both will be looking to do well again this week. With just 2 events left before the season-ending championships, this is the final Tier I stop, so still big points up for grabs for the race to the championships! There are still several women in contention for spots, so they will have to give it their all here.

Defending champion Venus Williams is ready to kick some asses

Q: How excited are you to be back here again?

V: It's always extremely exciting coming back as the defending champion. I'm really excited.

Q: If we compare this year and last year, how well prepared are you this time?

V: Probably pretty similar.

Q: Seeing your part of the draw, how do you assess your possibilities?

V: I don't know who I'm gonna play. For me it's about defending my title. I don't care who I need to crush. That's really what it's all about for me. I'm ready to kick some asses.

Q: Do you think the tour is deeper than it was 2 seasons ago?

V: Well, 2 seasons ago my name was Nathalie Dechy so :tape: Now we have so many brainless ballbashers in the TOP 10 like Surana Cirtustea but 2 seasons ago we had girls like Tatiana Golobitch so I think there is not a big difference.

Q: Has EleVen been going well in Russia?

V: Yeah, it's going very well. I earned 15$ here so it's a good result.

Q: Do you have any particular routine the night before the tournament to prepare?

V: No, just relax. That's it.
