Croatia welcome Russians in beautiful Umag!

Tennis complex in Umag

Semifinal match in the EWTA Fed Cup between Croatia and Russia will be played in beautiful Umag. It's the place which is known because of every year one of the best organisations in the men's tournament. Every year there is more things than only tennis. Russians are the huge favorites against Croats. They have 5 players for this match and Croatia only 2. And these 5 players are better ranked than two Croatians players. Russia has 3 girls in the top 10 from which 2 are in the top 5 and Croatia hasn't girl in the top 40. It was a suprise when Croatia won quaterfinal match against Australia in Sidney but here, everything which not is Russia's easy win would be a big, big suprise. Russians girls today came to Croatia and they were welcomed in the city. Tomorrow they will start with the first trainigs meanwhile Klina and Ajla are already training two days and they are feelig good.

Tennis stadium where will be played matches in the next days

"We are feeling really good, atmosphere is great and we know we don't have any pressure of winning this match. I'm also very happy because first time I will play in front of my home crowd. We just can enjoy in the playing and that's all. I know the most of the Russian girls and they are all great persons. I'm a little sad because Vera didn't come but there are Anna and Makiri who are one of my best friends on the tour. But I have to put friendship beyond me on the court and play the best I can." said Croatian captian Karolina Sprem.

One of the biggest talents in EWTA, Ajla Tomljanovic also speak to reporter.

"I'm so happy I'm the part of Croatia national team, you know, all those things are new for me and I'm still unexpirienced. Klina is a big support to me. I've played my first match ever in the Fed Cup and this experience will help me a lot. I just hope there will be a lot of home crowd to support us and maybe we can make a supirse. Who knows?"

Russia last year was in the final of this competiton and lost to USA 3-2. This is the first preformance for Croatia.
In the first round, both teams won as the guests. Croatia in Sidney, against Australia and Russia in Brno, against Czechoslovakia.

For the end Klina said well known phrase: "It's always everything possible in the Fed Cup. We don't have any pressure because we know we are not favorites but we won't give up. Ajla and me will try to do everything to win but we know that they will do the same. Anyway, I'm happy I will play with Ajla and in front of my crowd for the first time."
