Just comparing their stats out of curiousity...not criticizing any player or bashing them...

S.Williams 2002
Finals Played= 10
Titles= 8
Tier 1 titles = 2 ( Nasdaq 100 and Italian Open)
Win-Loss 56-5
Grand Slam wins- 3 (French, Wimby and US open)

Justine Henin-Hardenne 2004
Finals played = 11 ( as of oct22,2003)
Titles = 8
Tier 1 titles = 4 ( Charleston, Berlin, Canadian Open and Zurich)
Win-Loss = 71-9
Grand Slams - 2( French and US open)

Its remarkable...but Serena is 5'10 and Justine is 5'5.5 and serena had so much power and her built is like a super athelete, still with her tiny frame justine has reallly won so many titles and most likely will end the year #1. I really think she is one of the few players who can spell T-R-O-U-B-L-E for Serena and the other top players.....finally a great rivalry is brewing again....aaaaah :angel: :eek:

yes, those are close comparisons.

I think it will be a GREAT rivalry next year.
Venus got Justine's number though. So I think Justine would rather play Serena than Venus.
Kim on the other hand would rather play Venus I think.
But Serena vs Justine will be somethin to watch next year.

Nice post.

justine 2003 memorable breakthrough year; consistent all year long.
serena 2002 dominant year with a ton of consistency except for fall.

serena's 2002 is better of course but juju's 2003 is not over yet. she can still win YEC which will pull her to 9 titles, a firm #1 and and 2 majors and the tour championships which is pretty close to serena's 2002. but the YEC will probably be a faster surface favoring Venus, Jenn or Kim. Juju can still do it tho! (personally i hope she gets AT LEAST to the semis to secure the #1 ranking but a finals or a win would be super awesome!!!)

Howerver, one can only wonder about the injury Serena suffered, and which kept her out of alot of the tournaments that Justine won...!!! I mean, although Justines' record is what it is, she did avoid the two main rivals to her dominance, Serena and Venus...!!! :cool: :cool:

How many more tournaments did Justine play than Serena!!? If you're gonna give stats, then use the same amount of turnaments played that year! Comparing any aspect of Serena's career to Justines is pointless, Justine has not proven that she can beat the 2 best players in the world. She only has wins on clay because clay takes away almost every strengh of S&V, and still Justines wins were not easy. Meanwhile S&V has proven that they can beat Justine on every surface!! Besides Serena and Venus won most of their titles and slams beating most of the top players along the way!! I don't dislike Justine (maybe just a little!!he!he!) but I think she has a long way to go before she can be compared to Serena or Venus!!!!

Exactly....she sure benifited from the injury of Serena and Venus. Let´s not stay in denial...

I think Serena´s 02 was better because she stayed hot the whole year...she won on every surface. In fact she reached the finals of every big event on all surfaces.. pretty impressive.

I think it´d be the same old. A battle on clay, but Serena creams Jusitne on every other surface.

Serena did it w/all the very top players competing...and beating all comers, justine won big hardcourt titles that she would have been hard pressed to win w/a full field.

justine has a nice season going, but as she pretty much stated it would be nice to see how she'd do outside her beloved claycourts against the very best hardcourt players.

This Opening Post is clearly inaccurate. Those wins by her were because a Williams was not in the Draw.

If Justine plays next year this conversation will be moot.

Quit deluding yourself if you think justine is not inshape and a superior athlete! The woman has transformed herself so she could have a year like shes having. All this poor small justine is just bs because she is fit and in shape and muscular.

The two are not in the same league.
you're so right. Seren's 2002 was so much better since she won three Slams and completed the career Slam earlier this year.
