Riske doing the opposite of what has characterised her career :eek:h:

Great comeback, putting aside that bagel and being behind, playing her best pts down the brink to give herself a fighting chance for this title.

She is such a nice girl, very proud!

Kiki

Scenes in Rosmalen! Serial choker Ali out-chocked by her opponents in B2B matches. First by Kudermetova who failed to serve out SF twice and blew 5-2 lead in deciding set tie-break and now by Kiki who was set and 4-1 up and also had 5 MP, albeit all on return. Having said that, Riske was gutsy and clutch at net on all match points. Riske improves her awful finals record to 2-6. Bertens was 9-2 before today, go figure...

Kiki got injured at 60 10 and had a lengthy MTO. She seemed to move well afterwards but that may have affected her mentally. Shame - would have been nice to see her get her first grass court title at home in front of a packed crowd.

Congrats to Riske - her game clearly suits grass.

Oh Kiki <img src="http://www.tennisforum.com/images/smilies/spit.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Spit" class="inlineimg" /> What a choke. Definetly too passive in the 2nd and 3rd set, while Alison really raised her level! A deserved champion

Well deserved title for someone who always plays good grass court tennis. Hoping for one deep wimbledon run for her at least

Poor Kiki, a rare final lost for her, and it would have been nice to see her take the title at home after what happened at RG. She had FIVE match points too, but Riske was just playing better and better on them. Fingers crossed the groin injury is a quick heal (looks like it was) and she can be at her best at Wimbledon.

On the other hand it's nice to see grass-goat Ali finally win her first title in 5 years after playing such an amazing final in Shenzhen and still coming up short. You can see how much it means to her. 10 match win streak now, her net play and striking into the corners was fabulous in sets 2 and 3.

Unfortunate loss for Kiki, she was in front plenty of times but Riske never gave up. Well done by the American, coming back both here and in the SF. :hatoff:

Would love to have seen Keeks with a grass title but it wasn't to be today.
