good to seem them winning titles, but interesting to see that the overall tier level remains the same with only 1 capturing a tier 2 level title all year and the rest being tier 3 - still 2 tier 1's left, wonder if someone can breakthrough and grab it, or even add to the tier 2 list (certainly possible this week for dementieva given shanghai's field)

Nice and all...but they all seem like the queens of tier III´s. Come on girls, time to move to the big leagues. Plus for all the Russian invation thing, 6 titles ain´t that much.

I don't know. Would you prefer to win a Tier 5 title or no title at all? Think of it from the players point of view. It's easy for us to say "oh, it was only a Tier 5 tournament. It doesn't mean anything." When will they ever satisfy anyone? Until all four Grand Slams are won by Russians? Then you'd have people saying, "oh, the Russians are dominating. They are boring!" As fans, we should be happy with whatever the players accomplish. It's up to them to say what is or isn't good enough for them. D'ya get what m'saying?

Right, maybe this is good enough for them. But I mean, really. People are complaining about ten titles Tier III or below in 2002-3? They're missing the point of the thread.

Look at how many Tier III titles won in 2000-1.

Get it?

Olga Morozova was better than all of them- made it to the finals of Wimbledon and the French Open, and was one of the better serve-and-volley players... in 1973
