WIFCT
(Women's International Federation Cup Tour)
The Tour
WIFCT is for those people that like FedCup. On the WIFCT tour, you don't play as 1 individual player, you are a country with 2 to 4 players. The WIFCT will be comprised of 4 normal tournaments a season and then end with a FedCup style tournament with a World Group, World Group II and Qualifying Groups (not based zonally).
First 4 Tournaments
The first 4 tournaments are the French Invitational Team Cup (clay), Wimbledon Team Cup (grass), United States' World Team Challenge, and International Indoors Team Cup in Beijing (indoors)
These tournaments are played with normal draws of 32 or other number in a single-elimination style. Countries will compete against each other round by round playing ties of 3 until the Quarterfinals where they will be ties of 5.
The Final Tournament
The Final tournament is played just like normal FedCup. The first season the top 8 teams after the first 4 tournaments will be placed in World Group I, the next 8 in World Group II and the rest in qualifying groups. The following season is not based on rank but on how you did the previous year, just like FedCup. Everyone will play 5 ties always
Rankings
Rankings determine where you are placed in the draw for the normal tournaments every season and the Final FedCup in the first season. You get 10 points for winning a rubber in any tie, and 100 points for winning a tie.
So if FRA def. ITA 3-2
France gets 130 rankings points
Italy gets 20
Sign-Up
You sign up by picking a country to represent (not necessarily your own) and 2,3 or 4 players from that country. You may pick an already picked country but you must have different players. Each player has a surface preference (Clay,Grass,Hard or Indoors). It may be advantageous to sign up with 4 players and have 1 on each surface so that you will always have at least 1 player with an advantage, but you may also want 2 players on the same surface so that you can excel on a particular surface. your choice
Example:
Russia
Maria Sharapova (grass)
Anastasia Myskina (clay)
Alla Kudryavtseva (hard)
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (clay)
Points
For each tie you split 80 points (or 90 if it's your favorite surface) into three sets like this (40-40-0)
The Doubles teams use 80 points as a base (see first star below)
Other
*If you win a tournament (besides the final FedCup) your doubles team gets to use 5 more points from that points on, forever, through seasons.
*If a country is represented more than once they will be referred to as for example Russia I, Russia II etc... in order of sign-up not rank
*If I can't find a picture of a player for results, I will use the flag of your country. This means you can basically pick any player from that country current or former, though it is preferred to use a player people would recognize.
*Keep in mind that other people may want the same country as you therefore if your not a fan of a top player from your country of choice please don't pick them. For Example, if you pick France and really like Mauresmo and not Pierce, don't pick Pierce just because she's a top French player, maybe a Pierce fan would like to play with her in their France team, use someone instead like Aurelie Vedy who is less likely to be strongly desired.
*First come first serve
