Chanda flamed out last time they started her as the first match of the Tournament on AA Stadium -- hers was in fact the inaugural match for the brand-new stadium.
So I doubt she appreciated the scheduling; probably too much bad déja vu (I know it felt like that for me!) Goodbye, Chanda.

eh. this Open gets worse by the minute. We are going to have a bunch of lower ranked players get very far in a draw. While it's nice to see...next year, they'll just fall after the Open. Tragic, really.
Chanda has gotten too much credit for being mentally strong. Sure she has won a lot of close matches (with many of them being comebacks), but she rarely wins big matches. She has a good fighting spirit, but not the mental strength to do it when it counts.
She knew this was her chance at a major, and she went out 1st round.

As sad as it is to say, this was somewhat the expected outcome. She has beed injured and has had very little prep for the USO. And Vento is a tough opp. to draw for the 1st round. Vento has had a really solid summer, with a couple of good showings in big tourneys. As soon as I saw the draw, I know that if Chanda was anything less than 100%, that she was probably going to lose. I know her fans must be very disappointed, hoping she could go far with Davenport in her quarter and injured..... FEEL BETTER CHANDA... WELL DONE MARIA!!
