How terrible! I hope they found it in its early stages, as that is supposed to improve chances of fighting it with antibiotics.

Sam's own report of her diagnosis and struggles is worth reading. Such a terrible thing. By the way, Sam acquired the disease in Europe but couldn't say the source from traveling around so much playing tennis.

If Tabak is ill, she might want to start resting up!

The severity of the symptoms of Lyme disease really varies. Some people are crippled for their whole lives and others experience almost nothing. Hopefully she'll be OK since they're treating it early. :tears:

I have had this disease. I found out some 4-6 weeks after being bitten, by the big red ring surrounding the bite. At this stage usually no problems after treatment, i got antibiotics and basically i was cured in a few days without ever experiencing anything else than the red ring. The ring isn't always visible however and it goes away after some time. If you pass this stage all kinds of nasty things can happen from paralysis to heart problems, Lyme's disease is also often overlooked as a cause in this case. At this stage you really need massive antibiotics treatment and it can take years to recover. The woman who treated my disease had been suffering from Lyme's disease for some years and she was just finally recovering from it. In Tabak's case all should be well though.

Didn't Romana play Melanie Klaffler today in the ITF 50k in Trnava, today? Seems awfully strange that Romana would play a match after being diagnosed with Lyme Disease.
yes, she did ... she felt ok, no symptomps at the moment ... she just had characteristic circular skin rash ... so wanted to try play this match ... but it was sure it is her last tournament and since tomorrow she starts treatment for minimally one month...

This is terrible news. It cost Sam the best part of a year when she had Lyme's disease, and from her descriptions it was pretty awful. I wish Romana Caroline a quick recovery, or as quick as can be expected with something as serious as this.
