Will Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova FINALLY fulfill her junior prodigy potential? She was junior GOAT back then.

A junior prodigy, Pavlyuchenkova won two junior Grand Slam titles and became the junior world No. 1, in January 2006, at the age of 14.

Pavs was rock solid, she really stepped up to the occasion here. I think she knows what a good opportunity this is for her to win a slam, will likely never get it again and she is taking it with both hands rather than shitting the bed. Although there was a small hiccup in the middle of 2nd set so hopefully she holds her nerve for the final and it will be good quality.

Very solid and patient performance from Nastia. Can anyone else see Pavs pulling off a Schiavone type run here? You can’t rule it out!

Pavlyuchenkova went from a Slam spoiler, to now a Slam finalist -- congrats, hopefully she breaks many of her past mental doubts after this.

Zidansek missing that BHDTL sitter on MP summed up the match. Pavs was too solid, for the most part, to allow her to do anything.

Shifting momentum in the first set with Zidansek benefiting from an overly cautious Pavlyuchenkova to take an early 2-0 lead. Once Anastasia began opening up her forehand with bigger swings the tightness faded and she fought back to get on serve. At 4-3 Pavlyuchenkova Tamara's service was broken (5-3 Pavlyuchenkova). But tightness returned for the Russian as she tried to serve for the set; Anastasia is broken, then Tamara holds and it's 5-all. Yet just when you thought the Slovenian was gaining the upper hand Pavlyuchenkova pulls her game together with a hold and then follows with the critical break for the set. In truth, Tamara made some spectacular shots but her timing went off on some fairly easy returns and Anastasia was quick to take advantage.

A reverse to the start of the first set in the second: a hold for the Russian and after a long service game the Slovenian is broken: 2-0 Pavlyuchenkova. But Anastasia gets into 15-40 trouble and is broken, on serve now at 2-1 Pavlyuchenkova. Tamara's serve goes sideways again and she's broken once more at 15-40 (3-1 Pavlyuchenkova). Anastasia holds firm this time and takes a 4-1 lead. Zidansek holds at love (4-2 Pavlyuchenkova). Anastasia stiffens up and her serve falls to 15-40; 30-40 and a double fault breaks her and the match is back on serve at 4-3 Pavlyuchenkova. Then: 30-40 on Zidansek's serve and Tamara hits the ball wide and here's another break: 5-3 Pavlyuchenkova. 40-15 on her serve and then game set match Pavlyuchenkova!

So what's next Anastasia?

Hey, I'm going to the Women's Singles final at Roland Garros... as a finalist!
