A lot of people are being way over-confident I see with the new "female Nadal"...

Congrats Maria for your first grand slam semifinal. She finally got her well deserved breakthrough after all this time!

Don't feel too sad for Swiatek. In the last ten years no female player has won two consecutive championships at Roland Garros. (Serena and Sharapova came close but ended up alternating between 2013 and 2015). The last time someone repeated at RG was 2007 when Justine Henin racked up her third championship in a row. Yeah, it's a really tough surface folks. And it can do strange things to the muscles in your legs with all the slipping and sliding. But on the other hand...

...if you are having a moment, and every aspect of your game is working at the optimal level, very good things can happen. Maria Sakkari is having her moment and it's taken her to the semifinal at Roland Garros 2021.
