yeah.. while the pot in large on one side of big young blooming talents.... Rus gives hope for some of the contenders of the other side of the pot to see opposite or near them once Q's are placed. Those whose limit was probably making the first round but probably going no further.
It sucks more for players who would be next in for qualies draw, they did not even have a chance. In the case of Brady it was near obvious she would not play.
Pretty solid qualifying campaign for Rus! Bit of a choke today, but luckily she closed it out in the tiebreak. Hopefully she'll be able to break her GS MD losing streak.
Actually Rus is playing really well this year. Has won a stunning 27 matches - 9 losses. Albeit most of those matches were itf or qualies. Last few months she’s only been beaten by quality players. She’ll definately not be the easiest qualifier.
Great effort from Rus, she didn't panic after being forced to play qualifying. I know people joke she "vultures" alot of ITF events but she's back into the main draw in Paris, doing it the "hard way". Good for her...
