I picked that Annika might get the upset or get close from her consistency but only got to match point

Anybody know something about Beck? 18-year old german... I see she did well this year, but Kiki must've really fucked it up.
Thank god she somehow won!

Yeah most of the time the ones like Bertens who are well inside the top 100 but in qualies struggle to win in qualifying. Kiki also got unlucky because she got a dangerous opponent so well done to her.

So many of those results with more than 12 games in the third set started with a 60 or 61.
Yesterday on the men's side as well.
As for Bertens: Good she can win this, it's good when a WTA tournament winner can qualify.
And Beck will have a great future anyway.

Annika is the next Mona Barthel--except faster rising. Will be Top 100 by the end of the summer.
Had many ops here to upset Kiki. Just coudln't take it.
Don't remember a matchpoint, tho?

I thought Annika might cause an upset because of her consistency and the newfound pressure on Kiki but she is obviously held back mentally (she is only 18)
Annika is perhaps the most improved player of the year. Lost to Kiki this year in Bath 25K Final. She almost qualified for stuttgart and is a very consistent counterpuncher who can play agressivel. She beat Anett so she must be goodKiki.

It is very sad they had to meet each other in the first round. Both had deserved to qualify considering their previous results.
