Had a feeling this was going to happen, saw footage of Peterson practicing at RG last week when Yulia was still playing quarters or semis in Germany.

The Swede served it out well in the end as Putintseva was fighting back at the end of the second set.

Sore one for Poots, winning a maiden title was nice but there was always the real danger she would pay for it in the only slam she can do real damage in. Not to mention all the money at stake.

3 of the 4 finalists in last weeks tournaments have lost in the 1st round of the FO.
Poots, Zidansek, and Yas have all lost. Garcia has yet to play.
Does Garcia get an extra day to rest because she is French?

All 3 ( poots , Zidansek and Yas) are in the bottom half so today was the last day .

Garcia is in the top half

Not really. Gasquet played a final before and played the next day. Which was the weirdest thing ever. He was gassed in the match and it was obvious.

It was her first title - so I think it was worth it.
Also a short visit in the world's top 30.
No, it wasn't. It's brainless scheduling. She can easily vulture to a title in Bogota or Tashkent. She played tons of hours last week and got paid for 5 wins the same amount as for one match @ RG. She has made 2 QFs in Paris and has higher expectations. Obviously missed out on couple hundred grand, should she have passed few rounds she's very well capable on clay. And what does one week in top 30 give you? Nothing. Rankings are over-rated anyway.
