God match and urgently needed win for the german. Could be lot easier in the 2nd set..
This is the first time in her second career that she’s coming into RG healthy. In 2016 she was carrying an injury which got worse in Nuremberg and she basically played for the paycheck (lost 2&2 to slumping Bouchard IIRC), 2017 was the horrible injury in Nuremberg (no wonder she went to Strasbourg this year) and last year she had just come back from the previous year’s injury. You would think that Laura has just won a WTA tournament from her reaction. But now it makes sense to me as apparently it is her 1st ever RG MD victory and last year she wasn't in her best form. It's kinda of surprising for a good player on clay that she is but it's barely a few years since she isn't just an ITF level player and in 2017 when she was scoring great victories during clay season she suffered that terrible injury a couple of days before RG started
