Plaza de Oriente - Madrid
Event Name Red Clay Championships
Location Madrid, Spain
Draw Size: 64
Format Best 2 of 3 tie-break sets
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once again, this was a match where Mary Pierce started off brilliantly producing winner after winner, then tapered off during a huge lead in the 2nd set .. yet again. Pierce was leading 6-2, 5-1 when all of a sudden a rash of errors appeared from her racquet. Fernandez took advantage of this by centering the ball deep, allowing Mary to further self-destruct. Then in the tiebreaker, the errors went away and the winners returned as Pierce regained control of her power game. Game, set and match Pierce 6-2, 7-6 (7-1)
This match started off pretty evenly, both women had an early break of serve, but at 4-all in the 1st set, Sabatini broke VanRroost to take a 5-4 lead. Serving for the set at 40-30, Sabatini double faulted three times in a row, giving Van Roost the game. This inspired Van Roost as she won the next two games allowing Sabatini only one point ... 7-5 Van Roost. Sabatini raced to a 5-1 lead in the 2nd set by attacking the net, utilizing her volley skills. Van Roost managed to win two more games with well placed forehands before Sabatini regained control to close out the 2nd set 6-3. The 3rd set saw both women using every shot they had in an attempt to defeat the other, but it was Sabatini's heavy topsin that eventually wore her opponent down after 3 tough sets.

SPECIAL NOTICE I really hate to say this but someone has been cheating, voting under multiple names in order to win by force. Some of you suspected this and let me know. I investigated as best I could and there are two people here that I feel are the same person, I excluded their votes because their profiles and other things are just to close to be a coincedence. This makes me very upset, and there are probably more people doing it. I ask any of you or the admins if you have any suggestions that will help, speak up!
