Alexandra Stevenson and Mirjana Lucic arrive on the grounds for their 1st rd doubles match against Gigi Fernandez and Natasha Zvereva. Good luck ladies, you'll definately need it against those two!

Martina Hingis found herself getting frustrated by the aggresive play of Croatia's Iva Majoli. Was Hingis able to conjure up something to escape Iva's clutches on this very familiar surface?

Justine Henin, one of the four talented Belgian's in this tounament, gets a little ancy over line calls during her 2nd round match with Venus Williams.

Top seeded Martina Navratilova is the only serve-n-volley player left in the draw. Mandlikova, Shriver, Sukova, Novotna, Garrison, McNeil and others, have all bit the dust on the clay. Kim Clijsters tried to send Naratilova packing along with them ... was she successful?

Sabine Appelmans looks rather sullen after dropping the 2nd set to Conchita Martinez. Applemans did win the 1st set though ... any guesses as to who won the 3rd set?

An inspired Mary Joe Fernandez cleverly places a drop volley for a winner in her match with Monica Seles. Mary Joe and Monica are best friends off the court, but you sure couldn't tell that on the court.
Jelena Dokic powers a backhand winner against Kimko Date, of Japan. Dokic loves to hit with power, and Kimiko loves to absorb power and send it slamming right back at you. I wonder who won????
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
