TODAYS PHOTOS
Argentina's Gabriela Sabatini gets her forehand grip ready to return the serve of Anke Huber in a 2nd rd match today. Sabatini superbly countered Huber's pace with enormous heavy topspin ... but did she win?

Speaking of pace, Lindsay Davenport hits one of the hardest balls in tennis. Davenport is not very fond of the red clay, or playing Sandrine Testud for that matter ... guess who her opponent was today?

Amelie Mauresmo shows textbook form on the backhand, she'll need to get that big backhand going if she hopes to best the ever dangerous Jana Novotna.

Talk about pressure, Chanda Rubin finds herself in Spain playing Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario, on red clay at that ... but she sure looks focused to me.

As you can see, Serena Williams had her game face on in her 2nd rd match with Anna Kournikova ... but does a game face guarantee a victory?

Germany's Steffi Graf, arguably the best player in the world, found herself in a tight match with the very determined Elena Dementieva of Russia. Dementieva upset Julie Halard-Decugis in the 1st rd ... can she make it two upsets in a row?

Dominique Van Roost of Belgium also upset a seeded player in the 1st rd (Zina Garrison). This photo was taken while Van Roost was playing another net attacking seeded player ... Helena Sukova!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
