Everything is backed up a week this fall...Labor Day was very late...Riviera All-American Championships a week later...some of the Regionals backed up a week...and then National Indoors is a week later in November as well. Last year the National Indoors started around the 6th of November. This year, they are starting on November 12.

Except SW regionals are a week earlier for unknown reason. My fav program is skipping them for that reason... committed to other tournaments.

Six of the 12 regions stayed with that usual weekend in October around the 15th-20th. Six of the regions backed it up a week so as to give players a week and a half of rest after the main draw of the Riviera All-American draw finishes.

I think many of the regions were pretty set with a date and location before it was really clear to everyone that the National Indoors were pushing back a week (even though the ITA had the date up on their website early enough) because most regions are setting that date around the time they host the regional the year earlier. For a lot of schools that put in for hosting, the ability to host on a particular weekend can depend a lot on home football schedules and things like that so changing it after initially setting it isn't easy to do.

i find it also interesting only melissa lord was listed at #10 for freshmen and the other 2 new recruits are not ranked for stanford.
Due to their results and lack of play (only 4 tournaments each), Lampl and Yee have fallen to #13 and #39, respectively, so I'm not surprised.

I find it interesting that Lampl is only playing doubles (with Taylor Davidson, Zhao's partner last year, to boot) at the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships, and Yee isn't playing at all. I know Yee had a significant injury early last year, so that may very well still be an issue, especially since she lost to #185 6-2, 6-3 on 8/1 (per TRN).

I know 1 of the 3 Freshman isn't going to play singles as long as Zhao, Davidson, Doyle, and Hardebeck are healthy and in the lineup.
Is that going to be Lampl?

I am not surprised Yee isn't playing given her activity the past year.

If Yee is fully healthy and/or deemed to be ready to play, I see her starting at #6 and Lord at #5, with Yee potentially moving up over time if she returns to her prior form (she was ranked #1 for years before the injury). If Yee isn't fully recovered, though, then Lampl gets the #6 spot...or rotates in and out of that spot with Yee, giving both opportunities to play in the line-up. Just my guess.

slick, there you go dog'n Yee AGAIN

don't even compare her to Hardebeck ;)

i'd be happy if she plays solid at #4 or #5 like Stacey Tan did :bounce:
Haha, I'm not dogging Yee. I hope she does well, she seems like a good kid with all that she does. After seeing her play, I'm just not sure she will be a top player in college.

Lord and Lampl have had better results more recently, so they should likely play singles. However, I think Yee will play singles with Lord/Lampl playing together in doubles. I think Lampl may be out of the singles lineup.

If I had to take a guess, Lampl will end up being the best player from this year's class. Lord will be much tougher to beat indoors, but she picked the wrong school for a ton of matches inside. Lampl is likely the best day 1 player.

Eidukonyte is #1?

What is even the point...do the ITA realize how foolish these rankings make them look every year?
