Very impressive rise by Flavia Pennetta, and it’s great to see Silvia confirming her great 2001 season keeping up at such a high level. :)

I’m very disappointed by Maria Elena Camerin, and I also didn’t expect Sassi to drop out of the top 200, but they’re young and they have a very bright future. :)

After the US Open, the most interesting mover is Francesca Schiavone: up 11 places to 32, 2nd Italian player ahead of Rita Grande and basically at the same level of 2001 year end ranking. :D

Silvia Farina-Elia has reached the 4th round at the US Open for the first time and has confirmed her 14th spot, now ahead of Dementieva, but behind the impressive Chanda Rubin. :)

Antonella Serra-Zanetti, US Open qualifier and 2nd round loser to Martina Hingis, is now at 108; just outside the top 100, as well as Flavia Pennetta, winner of the Fano 50k challenger and up 14 places to 113. :)
