I feel bad for all the Russians, Czechs and Americans that won't make their teams. I hate how the Olympic selection works

Why can't someone sensible step in and sort this feud out between Hsieh & Taiwan federation?

Re: Race for 2020 Tokyo Olympics

Can the maximum amount of GS/OG titles spot go to a country that already has four players? Venus will need to be in at least the Top 25 to grab one of the four Team USA spots and that's not looking likely. Unless one of the Bryan brothers wants to play mixed with her or she plays the Pan Am Games (no chance that happens), I don't see how else she'll get in.

No, The same rule ( top 4 singles players) applies for GS/OG titles and Pan Games. she can play doubles with Serena and mixed

Re: Race for 2020 Tokyo Olympics

She said she would love to play about two weeks ago! :) I guess the asterisk is about whether she's eligible due to the long history of issues between her and the federation.
She has not played any Fed Cup matches so she will be ineligible.

Even if she plays Fed Cup 2020 the likely chance she will get approved is low based on her 2016 drama with the TA on the grounds of Rio Olympics.

She wrote would. Her intention for that Olympics comment is to get media attention on the following topics she covered, which is the $ that the TA got from Roland Garros for junior's performance previous year (Tseng won singles and runner up in doubles with Ho). 100,000 Euro were granted to the TA (for doing nearly nothing). Tseng did not go to Paris and his family did not know there is such performance $.

TA specifically stated that it's not just Tseng who earned the performance but also includes Ho. Maybe someone can shed the light how this calculation is done and if Tseng would have won the prize money all by himself? Hsieh says it's based on yearly ranking and TA says it's based on last year's RG performance in junior's department.

Can the maximum amount of GS/OG titles spot go to a country that already has four players? Unfortunately like guichard the same rule applies for the max 4 NOCs, so GS rule will not apply to Venus Williams or Maria Sharapova, but I do want to clarify:

1. Venus will likely not qualify for Olympics doubles based on her current ranking with Serena. There are only 86 slots and you can expect nations such as China, Romania and Ukraine to throw in random doubles team that just got enough rankings to fill the spot (Xu/Duan, Svitolina/L.Kichenok). The best bet for Venus is to place her ranking higher so she will be chosen.

2. If Venus does not qualify for either singles or doubles, she will not qualify for mixed. Mixed team has to come out from there. On top of that Mixed only got 15 teams, the ranking required should be around 10-20s (not her current ranking).

I will do monthly updates for the rest of the year and likely start weekly rankings sometime from 2020.

Tentative will be:

1. After Wimbledon
2. After US Open
3. After Beijing
4. After Shenzhen
5. After Australian Open

Wozniacki hmm... I'm not sure if she's eligible since she didn't cover the FC participation requirements
