First-round draw
----------------

* DANIELA HANTUCHOVÁ [5] v Kveta Peschke
* Vera Zvonarëva v Li,Na

We could have another mouthwatering Bepa v Daniela match in the second round here, but first Bepa has to get past #67-ranked Li, who is on a losing-streak of three matches herself, but who did take a set off Serena Williams at the Australian Open.

Any draw looks tough when you've lost five matches in a row, and I can only pray that it won't become a nine-match losing-streak like those endured by Iva Majoli in 1999/2000 and Jelena Dokić in 2004.

No on-court photos of Bepa this week, but Maret Ani comes close! ;)

First round (Monday)
-----------

- Vera Zvonarëva lt. Li,Na, 6-4 6-4

Bepa is now an established member of the Monday Club, having suffered six losses in a row, starting with the Auckland final! :bigcry:

Bepa led *4-1 in the second set, then won no more games, though she did save three match-points.

Why, Bepa? I don't know how her energy-sapping virus is these days, but the hot conditions at Doha certainly wouldn't have favoured her.

Doubles
-------

VERA ZVONARËVA/ELENA LIKHOVTSEVA [1]:
1r + Tina Krizan/Andreea Vanc, 7-5 6-2
qf + Kveta Peschke/Francesca Schiavone, walkover (Peschke personal problems)
sf - Li,Ting/Sun,Tiantian, 6-3 6-4

Bepa is skipping Indian Wells (not that she has any points to defend, having missed last year's edition with strep-throat). Her next tournament will be Miami (22nd March - 2nd April).
