PYW ITF Gifu, Makarska & Charlottesville

Welcome to Gifu ,Japan, Makarska in Croatia and Charlottesville VA, USA! With Fes, Prague and the 2 100K ITFs in Cagnes-sur-Mer and Johannesburg in the same week this is a good chance for some of the lower ranked players to gain some important points for the Clay season. Gifu saw Date-Krumm taking the title last year, but she is not playing this week. Gifu's field still includes Elena Baltacha, Aiko Nakamura, Tomoko Yonemura and Sophie Ferguson who are the top 4 seeds this week and the favorites to reach the semi finals. Makarska in the second year in the tour, present us the ITF World #1 Tatjana Malek who is the big favourite to win there. Some young stars who are in the bottem half will try to steal the title from her. Charlottesville probably has the strongest field which also includes a lot of promising match-ups like Lucic vs Haynes and Yan vs Lee-Waters. It seems that the one who wins the first round match up between Lucic and Haynes might go all the way to the title. A very interesting week ahead. Vote now as the tournaments kick off!!
