PYW Doubles Estoril

Welcome to Estoril, Portugal! Taking a break from the packed season of red clay European premier events we have a week of two International events. However, many marquee names are taking advantage of this week nevertheless. The top seeds, Maria Kirilenko and Nadia Petrova, both of Russia, recently won the Premier Mandatory event in Miami, USA so they have certainly proven their distinction on the doubles tour. Meanwhile, the second seeds, Indian Sania Mirza and Australian Anastasia Rodionova, have recently begun a temporary partnership but with much experience between them, they will undoubtedly be tough challengers here. The third seeds, Kazakhs Yaroslava Shvedova and Galina Voskoboeva, who have recently joined forces in hopes of playing together in the Olympics this summer, are both very accomplished as well and could well hit their stride this coming week. Another interesting team involves singles defending champion and major doubles champion, Spaniard Anabel Medina Garrigues partnering her younger compatriot, who enjoyed her breakthrough first singles title in 2012, Lara Arruabarrena Vecino. With these teams and more in action, Estoril will be one of the most packed International tournaments of the year! Vote now as the Estoril Open kicks off!
