Nová slovenská tenisová jednotka odchádza do dejiska turnaja (31. októbra – 5. novembra) vo štvrtok.
Účasť v Ču-chaji už potvrdili šampiónka US Open Američanka Sloane Stephensová, Rusky Anastasia Pavľučenkovová s Jelenou Vesninovou i Lotyška Anastasija Sevastovová.

Re: Projected Field

wasn't the field supposed to be announced today :oh:

it is already evening local time, unless the WTA meant USA time

this probably means that some players informed the WTA they won't play, so they are contacting the replacements :rolls:

Players had until 10 am Florida time to confirm their participation. So it should be out soon hopefully

Re: Projected Field

So, does this mean each group of three would contain one each of the following sets of players?

Set 1: Mladenovic, Vandeweghe, Stephens, Pavlyuchenkova
Set 2: Sevastova, Vesnina, Goerges, Kerber
Set 3: Barty, Rybarikova, Strycova, Peng

Are the groups randomly assigned based on one from each set? That would make sense... I bet everyone is hoping to get Kiki in their group!
Looks like Goerges and Kerber won't play each other, unless they both win their respective groups.
Will both Daria's be alternates, or do they just have one, which would be Kasatkina based on the rankings?

Looking forward to this event!

Re: Projected Field

Doubles Only Teams (2 Teams)

Olaru/Savchuk
Rosolska/Smith

Alts: Ninomiya/Voracova & Kichenok/Kichenok

Singles/Doubles Teams (2 Teams; At least 1 player must be a qualified Singles Player or Alt for Zhuhai)

Zhang/Lu
Duan/Han

Meaning Zhang & Duan got a WC (or are Alts)?

Still the remaining 2 teams (WC) to be announced

I don't think Zhuhai ever stuck to those criteria for the doubles teams :oh:

Re: Projected Field

So, alternates don't need to be next in line? They can just put in anyone they want. Hmm, not a fan of that.
From the rulebook

WTA will notify the top thirty (30) highest-ranked singles players in the Finals Rankings, excluding Finals
Singles Qualified Players (“Singles Eligible Alternate List”), that if they do not become Elite Trophy
Singles Qualified Players, they have the option to be alternates at the WTA Elite Trophy by confirming
their acceptance before 10:00 a.m. Florida time on the Prior Tuesday
. The two (2) highest-ranked players
on the Eligible Alternate List who confirm their acceptance before 10:00 a.m. on the Prior Tuesday and do
not become Elite Trophy Singles Qualified Players automatically become the WTA Elite Trophy alternates
(each an “Elite Trophy Alternate” and collectively the “Elite Trophy Alternates”) at 10:00 a.m. on the
Prior Tuesday, and any additional players on the Singles Eligible Alternate List who confirm their
acceptance are eligible in order of their Finals Rankings to replace any Elite Trophy Alternate that
withdraws or becomes an Elite Trophy Qualified Singles Player prior to the start of competition. If the
Singles Eligible Alternate List does not produce two (2) Elite Trophy Alternates, the Promoter may
nominate up to two (2) Elite Trophy Alternates.
