I noticed Caregaro wasn't in the draw. Granted she's no good really, but still...

At this point I strongly wish that the weirdest thing may happen: that the MDWC refused to Schiavone because FIT wants to promote young Italian player, is conquered on the court by Lisa Sabino, a 30 years old Swiss player!

Fantastic! Go Lisa!
There will not be Bencic, but instead Sabino, thanks to the smart FIT policy!

Brianti still playing. Would be pretty hilarious if she ended with a MDWC then as well.
Everyone except for Trevisan would seem incredibly out of place in the MD anyways.

Di Sarra with a WC is totally out of nowhere :fiery: I wanted Jessica too with a WC... I hope for her for the 5th WC (even if I really like Albertina)

Di Sarra has played 5 tourneys in the last 3 seasons. She will take the WC, have some fun and probably play a couple of ITFs close to home until next year's event. Nothing against her, but the organizers really should find a way to reward the likes of Brescia who have been fighting their asses off all over the world and not base all wildcards on the results of one playoff.

Di Sarra with a possible MD WC while former Grand Slam winner + top ten player and WTA titlist in 2017 Schiavone isn't even invited to play Qualies

LMAO @ these results :bigcry: I agree that the likes of Brescia and Paolini should be rewarded over a part-timer like Di Sarra but then...they should have beaten her.

Of the SFists, Ferrando is the only one who's ever played a WTA MD before, as a LL in Guangzhou last year :bigcry:

Their WTA qualy records:

Trevisan
Q1 Rome 2009, l. Rezai
Q1 Luxembourg 2016, l. Georges
Q3 Rabat 2017, d. Pous Tio, Stojanovic, l. Podoroska

Ferrando
Q2 Guangzhou 2016, d. Y.Liu, l. Pivovarova (l. Abduraimova in MD)
Q1 Wuhan 2016, l. Duan

Di Sarra
Q1 Rome 2010, l. Sprem
Q1 Rome 2013, l. Hampton

Chiesa has never played WTA qualifying.

Did Di Sarra come through pre-qualies in those years too?

Di Sarra had many uncountable physical problems, stopped playing tennis and became an official tennis coach. After this results she said she would like to start again playing professional tennis (but she is 27yo...)

Chiesa has always been a very interesting prospect, had a good 2016 but in 2017 she achieved like nothing... and this result comes up from no where, really

Answering to @Javi - Trevisan had may physical problems but also big personal problems (AFAIK), she decided to stopped playing when she was probably the most promising youngster we had. Then re-started playing in 2014 and here we are: she is close to top200 playing only few months in 2016, surely she has big potential, even if I think a better future could be sure for Paolini (mostly) and Brescia ATM
