Maria Maria! Will it be Maria Sharapova? Probably not yet. Since she's playing the juniors. I think it will be Elena Dementieva.

I want it for Anna - she needs it most.
If it is Elena D. also great - she is also under a lot of pressure to get her first.
But generally, I want anyone get that, for me it is not a question of WHO, it is a question of WHEN.. And I want it now..

LOL, ys!

I know the feeling! I always want NOW, not tomorrow or the next day!

My big dream for Maria Sharapova is to be like Steffi Graf or Monica Seles in their old days! I hope Williams will retire their tennis careers when Maria joins the WTA Tour. I know I sound so mean but... I am getting tired of powerful Williams.....

I hope Anna K. or Elena D. is the first to win a title. Anna has suffered from alot of injuries. But she continues to look fabulous. Sharky(SharapovaFan), are you kidding, honey? You want the big "W's", Venus and Serena, to pack it in when Maria joins the WTA Tour in a couple of years? That's not going to happen. Maria is going to have to face the same problem Anna K. has faced in her career. That problem is a lack of size. Mary Carillo calls women's tennis, "Big Babe Tennis" for a reason. And that reason is great size and power. Which is something that Anna and Maria are lacking. But they make up for it by being gorgeous and very good tennis players. Udachi Anna and Maria!

P.S. - Sharky, I tried emailing you and Jose yesterday. But the emails failed in their delivery. I am registered with World Crossing. I just need Jose to make me a member.

I think Dinara Safina could be an athlete of Venus Williams caliber in the making.

Dinara is very strong , hopefully she can grow a bit more , but her serve still needs a bit of work on.

Svetlana Kuznetsova is a complete fighter , a bit like Elena D with a big forehand.

I just want a breakthru for any of the girls .... sooner than later

YS, are you serious? I hope and expect Dinara to be very good tennis player. Maybe even in the top 10 some day. But please don't mention her being the same kind of athlete as the incredible Venus Williams. Venus is the greatest athlete in the history of women's tennis. No one would dispute that. Her great combination of size, speed, length, court coverage, power, serve and great defense are unparalleled in women's tennis. In fact, it was Venus' great defense that enabled her to routine the incredibly powerful Serena Williams in the recent U.S. Open final. Dinara is tall and can hit the ball. But can she move? She is a very good junior player. Because her brother Marat Safin is a tremendous athlete, doesn't mean Dinara will be one as well. If Dinara Safina is 3/4 the athlete and player that Venus is, she will have a tremndous career. And end up in the tennis hall of fame.

if you are looking for someone tall and athletic .... I don't mean Bovina.

Look out for 15 year old Vera Douchevina , she's got grace and boy can she play as well.
Plus she is tall , around 6ft.

I voted for Elena D., because she has the complete package right now out of these players. She has the game, the confidence, her health, and the experience.

The cat, have you ever heard of a Russian player who can't move? An excellent footwork is one of trademarks of Russian tennis.

Besides, I trust Marat's opinion , and he said that Dinara will be better than him. And I saw her playing, and I must say that for a 15 yo she looks absolutely stunning in terms of athleticism, I really doubt Venus was as athletic at that age, but I haven't seen her at that age, first time I've seen her was when she was 17, so that's a kind of extrapolation..

She is tall, strong and slender, not a single gramm of extra weight ( unlike , say, Bovina, who seems to be drifting to Davenport-like physique ). She is very much like Marat, a perfect body for the sport.

YS, not all Russian tennis players are fleet with their feet. Elena Bovina comes to mind. So does Nadejda Petrova. Some people think Petrova moves well. But I don't. I've seen her play a few times. Sure, she has long legs. But she also has a pretty slow first step. Petrova is virtually the same size as Elena Dementieva. But she's not nearly as fast as Elena. Because of her strong legs, Elena has a great first step. Which enables her to play great defense. Lina Krasnoroutskaya? She moves okay. But she's not nearly as fast as I thought she was. Anastassia Myskina? She moves pretty well. But Myskina needs to get her legs stronger. Then she will run faster, and have a better first step. Dinara Safina? She is so tall and lean, I can't imagine her legs are strong enought to enable her to have a great first step. If a girl is going to be almost 6 feet tall, she will need to have strong legs like Dementieva, in order to run fast and have a great first step. I imagine that 14 year old Katia Afinogenova will be the fastest of them all. She won't be too tall. And her brother plays in the NHL. So you know his legs are strong. And Katia's mother was a former Russian track champion in the 800 meters. You just know that Katia can fly! But when it comes to speed among the Russian female tennis players, Elena Dementieva and Anna Kournikova are in a class by themselves.

I am somewhat disagree about that, the cat.
I would not say much about Bovina, she is still in a process of growing up in terms of physique, as many said it, same way as Davenport was in her earlier years. In a couple of years, when she is 20, she could be fine. At the same time, note that Bovina's best surface is clay, and a clay is a kind of surface that would punish clumsy footwork, like in case of Davenport or Williamses.

I think Anna has the best footwork, or maybe had, we can't know if her footwork is not affected by her injury. Alyona has a great speed too, but I would call it a baseline speed. Her speed in the other direction is a problem, as soon as someone starts dropshotting her ( like Kim regulary does ), she is in trouble.

YS, who is Aloyna? Elena Dementieva? I came up with Dementieva because you said Kim Clijsters likes to drop shot her. It's too bad Dementieva is afraid of the net. With her size, she could be imposing at the net. Instead, it's imposing on Elena to ask her to come to the net. Udachi Elena! Or is it udachi Aloyna?
